Dr. Itzel Nogueras is from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Central Florida. She began her college career at the University of Central Florida before transferring to Liberty University. Dr. Nogueras earned her Bachelor's degree in Special Education with a minor in Youth Ministry. She earned her Master's in Administration and Supervision, an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction, and her Ed.D. degree at Liberty University. She is licensed to teach Elementary (K-6), Special Education (K-12), Spanish (K-12), and Administration.
In 2018, Dr. Nogueras' student taught at Amherst County High School with Mr. Maddox. During her student teaching semester, she was selected as a Teacher of Promise. She started her career as a Spanish teacher at Heritage High School, where she received the Lynchburg Living Top Teacher award in 2020. Her first role as an administrator was at Sheffield Elementary School as their summer school principal. For the last two years, Dr. Nogueras has served as one of the Assistant Principals at Amherst County High School, and prior to that, she was the ACHS Dean of Students.
Dr. Nogueras joined the Central Elementary School Wildcat Family in the 24-25 school year. She loves her job and enjoys getting to know everyone in Amherst County, supporting teachers, and helping students be successful.
