Grading

Assessments are done each nine weeks to determine the mastery level of the skills taught during that time.  We use a variety of methods to assess these skills, including paper/pencil, manipulatives, and oral response.

In Kindergarten, we use a grading system of S=satisfactory,

P= Progressing, and N= Needs improvement

Class Routine

Daily Communications-Each day your child will bring home their agenda. It will have their homework assignment and any communications that I might be sending to you.

Monday Folders- Folders will come home every Monday with your child's work and any notes that will be sent by the school or myself. Please sign and return folders on Tuesday.

Homework- Students will have homework nightly( Monday-Thursday). There  maybe a reading activity and a math activity. It is important that you sit down with your child while they are completing their homework. It does them no good to do the homework or practice incorrectly. Also, there will be a book to be read and entered into your child's reading log. Each Friday the reading logs will be collected and your child will receive credit for the books they have read each week.

Absences and Make-up Work

It is important for your child to be at school daily. However, we understand that there are times when they will have to be away from school. In the event that they are absent, please call the school and notify the office, and upon their return to school provide a written excuse of their absence.

Your child will receive their missed work upon their return to school, unless you have made other arrangements for the pickup of materials.  Please make sure that it is completed and returned.
